The Lengthsman carried out surface clearance of the road drains on Heathman Street, Farley Street and the Square around the Flood Risk areas last month.  I will re-task him to repeat this work in the coming month, which will use up the remainder of this years Financial Allocation.  On balance, I think that the work we have done on various road drainage areas thoughout the Parish during the year has paid dividends this winter, although we cannot alleviate the effects of the high groundwater table we have seen over the past month.

 

As I have previously indicated, major flood alleviation work on the major A roads is beyond the capability of the Lengthsman. 

It is disappointing that some of the work he carried out on Hollom Down Road earlier in the year was destroyed when the road was used as a diversion from the A343/A30.
